Role models

So the quest to discover and feel comfortable with myself continues. The blog has been quiet, I know, (by quiet I mean nonexistant), but I feel like I'm ready to write again.

I've been lucky enough to have some women come into my life that I can lean on, and go to for advice. I also have some other women that I look up to, that I'll probably never meet. By and large they fall into two categories, strong women that won't take any crap, and gentle women, that are very caring.

Both kinds are needed by me at the moment, to help me find my way.

A major influence lately, and this one falls into the category of role model that I'll never meet, is Jillian Michaels. She is the American trainer for The Biggest Loser, and she also, as I discovered a couple of months ago, has a weekly radio show on KFI AM, which has podcasts that I can download and listen to.

The sheer wealth of knowledge this woman has for everything health and fitness is truly inspiring. She really really wants people to make better decisions as to what choices they make, in both nutrition and exercise, and if she has to open up a can of whoop ass to help people get to that point, then she is willing to do that too. lol

We've been downloading the latest season of TBL, and my god, Jillian is absolutely ripped this season! Her physique is what I aspire to, so every time I am struggling on the treadmill, I just picture her abs, and give it a bit more. Or I imagine that she is there watching me workout, and I don't want to let her down, so I give it a bit more. It helps.

On the nutrition side of things, I'm now at day 12 alcohol free, and I am eating healthier than ever before. Lots of fresh fruit and veges. Plus at least 2 litres of water a day, and more when I'm working out. Oh, and the plastic water bottles have been given the heave ho, I now have a stainless steel flask to drink out of, as toxins from the plastic can leach into the water, and from there into the body.

So, if anyone is still out there reading, stick with me, lets see how I go.
